Introduction
The International Training Program in Counseling and Psychotherapy: Systemic, Narrative and Collaborative Approach offers training in basic concepts and practices of Counseling and Psychotherapy as well as specialized training in modern and postmodern psychotherapeutic approaches both at the level of theory and at the level of clinical practice.
More specifically, the aim of this four-year training program is to provide in-depth knowledge and practice in the Systemic, Narrative, Collaborative-Dialogic approach within a pluralistic perspective that highlights the person, relation and multiculturalism. Secondly, the program emphasizes Solution-Focused Therapy and Appreciative Inquiry. As a result, trainees will get to know and be able to apply a variety of therapeutic approaches through a synthesis and pluralism lens.
The program aims to prepare students to acquire the necessary knowledge and practices to work as counselors and psychotherapists in different contexts, with adults, children and adolescents (individuals, families, groups, community).
International cooperation and certification
This international program will be conducted through KEDIVIM of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) in collaboration with leading and internationally recognized Institutes and Educational Centers abroad such as the Taos Institute and Houston Galveston Institute, Evaston Family Therapy Center, USA, etc. while a certification from them will also be given (International Certificate in Collaborative-Dialogic Practices, etc.).
The program harmonizes and exceeds the criteria of the Hellenic Counseling Association, the European Association for Counseling, the National Psychotherapy Society of Greece and the European Association for Psychotherapy (EAP). It is also designed according to the specifications of the European Family Therapy Association (EFTA).
The program is four years long and consists of 4 independent cycles. Each cycle covers the period of one year. The structure of the program is as follows:
Theory and Applications: Theoretical and Clinical training, Experiential elaboration of theoretical approaches, Case analysis.
Laboratory Level: Seminars and Workshops to enrich knowledge and experience with specialized therapeutic interventions, as well as techniques based on play, art, etc.
Research and conduction of papers in the context of therapeutic practice, utilizing qualitative research.
Practical Level: Clinical Practice, Individual and Group Supervision, Reflective Group, Case Study.
Personal development through Individual and Group Psychotherapy.
Location of Education
The courses are held one weekend a month, at the Museum of History of the University of Athens in the area of Plaka.
CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION
The program is primarily addressed to psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers and professionals in the field of health and in particular mental health and under conditions also to graduates of other Humanities and Social Sciences (e.g. teachers, sociologists) who work with individuals or groups and their professional role involves a counseling and/or psychotherapeutic dimension. In addition, it offers the possibility to professionals who have already been trained in a psychotherapeutic approach to be certified in additional specializations (e.g. narrative or collaborative-dialogical) by following one or more independent study cycles.
